Not All Vendors Are Created Equal
Our guide on How to Choose the Right Vendors for Your Big Day
A dream vendor team is the key to a seamless and successful wedding day and planning experience. We're frequently asked for recommendations and advice on how to decide on which vendors to book because let's be honest, finding the right vendors for your wedding is no easy task. There are so many things to consider when figuring out what's most important to you and your fiancé, and who is the best person for the job. We advise brides and grooms to look out for certain qualities in vendors that will ensure you've made the right decisions.
1. Professionalism & Flexibility
In the age of text messages and DM's, professionalism is something that seems to be lacking in every industry. It's important to find vendors who are professional, responsive, and conduct their businesses to the highest standards. When working with vendors who are professional and have experience, it's more likely that they will be truly invested in your wedding day and will go above and beyond to make you happy. Upholding their business reputation shows that they are passionate about what their doing and they will treat your wedding day like their own. Working with vendors who are flexible and have a 'can do' attitude will also ensure a positive experience. It's hard enough balancing a busy work/life schedule without trying to figure out how to fit another appointment between Monday through Friday, 9am - 5pm. Some companies are more flexible than others and it's important to ask about time constraints. We can't begin to count the number of weekend meetings or late night phone calls we've had with clients. For us, we strive to be as flexible as possible!
2. Overall Relationship
You MUST be able to truly connect with the person you're hiring. This 'go with your gut' instinct is so important since you will be interacting and working with these people for months, if not years. After initial meetings, take a step back and ask yourself some questions. How do you feel when you interact with your photographer/invitation designer/florist? Do you feel like they're listening to you? Do they understand your overall vision? Can you trust them? There is no sense in working with someone who you have reservations about. This is only going to cause you more stress leading up to and on your special day. If it doesn't feel like a match, keep searching and you will find the vendors who are right for you.
3. Pricing
Do you always "get what you pay for?" Yes and no. We've worked with vendors at various price points and the old saying definitely doesn't ring true 100% of the time. However, if there are vendors who may be a little over budget and who have the experience to show for it, invest in them. Someone who you've connected with and who really understands your wedding day vision is worth the few extra bucks. They will be the ones who make the planning process so much easier and who will you bring your dreams to a reality. Ultimately, choose a vendor who is right for you and your fiancé. Reviews, recommendations, and advice can only go so far and sometimes relying on your instincts is the way to go!
