Why I Decided To Turn My Personal Blog into a Wedding Planning Business

Relationships we have with people define our life experiences. Some relationships are easier than others, but they all take work. Different personalities, ideas, and ways of communicating often lead to challenges in interpersonal situations. In any relationship, both personal and professional, it’s about understanding each other and working together to communicate effectively. This is especially true in the wedding and events industry, which I learned wholeheartedly throughout my own wedding planning experience.

Planning a wedding or any type of celebration is such a personal and emotional process that those you chose to work with truly define your experiences. To many, planning a wedding seems like a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be. It should be fun, stress-free, and a time to grow closer to your partner and those you love. But let’s be real here, when logistics, design, and making sure every little detail is thought of, the pressure builds and stress heightens. However, hiring vendors with knowledge and experience should take away any of these pain points. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case for me. I thought a client based business relationship would be an easy one, but many of these working relationships I had, created significant grief that I should not of had to deal with before or on my wedding day. Yes, some of the vendors I hired were absolutely wonderful and I’d highly recommend them, but others not so much.

Throughout my year and a half engagement I learned a lot about the wedding industry and while working with various vendors, I was enlightened to my own skill sets and knack for event planning. So fast forward a few months after my wedding and I was inspired to start a blog to help other brides have a much more enjoyable planning process. I knew recommending the right vendors, giving tips, and writing about my own experiences would prevent them from facing any wedding planning struggles.

One day after talking to a good childhood friend, who has been in the hospitality and event planning industry for years, it hit us that The Big Apple Bride blog should ultimately become a special events planning company, Big Apple Bride Events. We knew that with her years of experience, my knowledge of all things weddings, background in production management and business, we would make the perfect team. This came as no surprise to our family and friends who know our Type A and “planner” personalities. So we dove right in.

It’s our time to help others and offer them a positive, hassle-free planning experience. We truly care about each and every one of our clients special day and want to build easy, positive working relationships. We want to deeply understand our clients vision and work with them to create the day of their dreams.

As detail oriented masters of logistics, expert researchers, and lovers of all things design our goal is to be a source of relief for brides so they can focus on what’s truly important. Spending time with their partner and making unforgettable memories with their family and friends.

Xo,

Sarah
